I was born and raised in a small town in northern Michigan. I moved to the Metro Detroit area where I earned a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from Davenport University. After working in the business world for several years, I returned to college and earned my Teaching Certificate in Social Studies and Sociology and then a Master of Education degree from The University of Michigan - Dearborn. With my Master's degree, I earned my endorsement in K-12 Special Education. I'm trained in and use Orton Gillingham, which is a multi-sensory process for teaching reading, writing and spelling.
In my spare time, I enjoy visiting family and spending time at our cottage up north. My husband Tony and I have three boys - Oliver, Henry and Liam. We love the outdoors, especially boating, fishing, biking, sitting by campfires and taking walks. In the Winter months, some of our favorite things include sledding, building snow forts together and having hot chocolate!
